St. Valentine’s Day at Walmart

Walmart Valentine

Did you know that Valentine’s Day is named after St. Valentine, a real person?

Valentine was a Roman priest, physician, and martyr who was arrested by the Emperor Claudius for marrying Christian couples secretly during a time of persecution in the Church. On February 14 in the year 350, Valentine was put to death, probably flogged and/or beheaded. In 496, Pope Gelasius declared February 14th St. Valentine’s feast day.

I can’t help but wonder what St. Valentine thinks of the Walmart display . . . .
