St. Lucia Gets Trippy [video]

In his debut video for single “Before The Dive”, the enigmatic St. Lucia (@stlucianewyork) reveals just enough of himself to keep the mystery alive. The video opens with a hoodie clad St. Lucia (real name Jean-Philip Grobler) on a journey to the top of a hill to meet his love interest (cue headless female). As the video propels forward, we’re treated to a slow-mo haze that feels all too familiar with the sunny synths common to his music.

At the big kiss, an explosion of light and color occurs, the figures transported and floating in a nebulous starscape. If this transformation were a metaphor for the kind of year Grobler has had, it wouldn’t be too far from the truth. Recently signed to Columbia by way of New York’s Neon Gold Records, St. Lucia is on track to being a household name (he recently opened for The Shins at Terminal 5).
