It's been a while since I treated myself to a new nail polish, but with spring just around the corner, hopefully, I thought that it was about time to update the collection with some season appropriate colours. Spring is definitely all about the pastels and nudes, fresh colours that are made to brighten and remind us that summer is nearly here, rather than the darker more berry tones of winter. Of course, it's not a rule that you have to stick to, I certainly break it all the time, but it's nice to follow the trends every once in a while.
The first color that I got was Breakfast in Bed (cute name!) by Rimmel, which is one in their new 60 seconds to dry range. Whilst it didn't quite live up to its claim, I would be amazed if any nail polish could, it dazzled on all other fronts. From the wide brush that makes it possible to do your entire nail in one stroke to the gorgeous creamy and opaque formula, this polish is definitely a winner. Plus, the color (arguably the most important thing so I don't know why I left it till last to describe!), a beautiful blue mint green, which fits perfectly into the pastel neon trend is so lovely that I couldn't stop staring at it the whole time it was on my nails!
Secondly OPI's Chillin' Like a Villain (again, love the name). You may remember from a while ago that I was trying to wear less nail polish, and, although I still love the brightly coloured stuff at the weekends, I've been loving more natural colours on my nails during the week. Although not technically clear, I find that one coat of this gives a beautifully peachy sheen to the nails which makes them look really healthy, almost like you are wearing nothing at all, and it just helps give that little bit of extra protection to your nails. Alternatively, it can be layered up (opaque in 3 coats) to give a beautiful peach-y nude finish which looks perfect for an understated spring nail look. Of course, as a base and top coat, Sally Hansen's Double Duty is used to give that salon effect, glossy mani and then my nails are ready.
What nail colours have you been loving recently, are there any that I should try?
