Spin Me ‘round ‘round Baby

By Cbdesigns @cherylboglioli

That is what I was dealing with for two weeks.  I realized I should share little posts even when I don’t have anything creative to share.  I haven’t updated by blog in weeks.  I had a severe case of vertigo.   The worst of it lasted for a few days, but it kicked my butt for two weeks.

Have you ever had vertigo?   I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.   It is different than just having a dizzy spell or feeling lightheaded.  Heck, I know how to deal with that, I get seasick on the Disney ferry.  LOL   Vertigo spins your whole world though.   You open your eyes and the room is spinning around and you CANNOT stop it.   It is the most disorienting experience I have ever had.   You have no control at all.

My dear hubby stayed home with me for two days taking care of me.   Seriously, I couldn’t even walk.   He took me to the doctor and they gave me anti-dizzy and anti-nausea medicine and then referred me to a physical therapist.   They diagnosed me with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).  Thankfully, the PT was able to see me right away.   She explained that our ears shed calcium debris referred to as crystals, and sometime these get stuck floating in your inner ear.  Each time they brush against the hairs in your ear, that ear tells your brain you are moving – the other ear is telling your brain you are not, and wheeeeeeeee…..your world spins out of control.   By utilizing a procedure called the Epley & Semont Maneuver (or Dip & Flip for laymen term), they PT is able to help help steer this ‘crystal’ out of your inner ear.  She then put me in a fashioned neck brace and told me I had to stay vertical for 24 hours.  Dear family propped me up on couch with pillows and foot rest and helped take care of me.   I still had some dizzy spells for days, but nothing as severe as those first two.

After all that, I am doing MUCH better.   I still wake up in the morning and am so hesitant to move or get up, but haven’t had any more episodes since then.  I hope I never do again.   I can tell you, if it ever happens again, I’ll be going straight to the Physical Therapist and do the Dip & Flip again as soon as possible.

Now, I need to get back to my studio and get some projects done.  I need to upload a few here too.

Thanks for stopping by today
