Abhijit Mukherjee has hit the headlines again. No, not for any sexiest comment any more. He was on the way to a temple to offer prayer, as he claimed. Meanwhile an idea came to his mind - why not visit a jail - just a few kilometres from the scheduled destination.

TIMELINE

Mirror mirror on the wall!
Have you any idea about a way to temple via jail or vice versa?

Front SHELF

Mr. Mukherjee met RJD leader Lalu Prasad at the Birsa Munda Central Jail on Sunday, who has been convicted in fodder scam..
It’s a personal meeting and let it be personal.“
- Abhijit Mukherjee, Congress MP

"Though Abhijit maintained that his Jharkhand visit was primarily meant to offer puja (prayers) at Rajrappa temple, around 45 km from Ranchi, rumour mills worked overtime following the meeting of VVIP’s son with the jailed leader," according to a media report.

BOTTOMLINE

Was it really personal? There were speculations too. A report in Deccan Herald says:
"Though no Congress leader was ready to comment on Pranab son’s visit, it is believed that the grand old party has tried to send a message to the jailed leader that all is not lost for him after the lower court verdict." He is the son of President Pranab Mukherjee."
