Sony’s new Xperia ZR is targeting underwater smartphone users.

As weird as that subtitle sounds, it’s true. Sony Xperia ZR’s main selling point is its’ ability to survive up to 5-feet underwater. Additionally it has some high-end specs like a 4.6-inch TFT display with 1280 x 720 resolution, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage and a powerful 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip. Bigass 13-megapixel camera on the back also seems to be great for photography and the device also features everything in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Sony showed off their waterproof capabilities in their previous flagship, Xperia Z. Looks like they are continuing to follow this path to make more water-proof smartphones. Future for Sony starting to look very bright.

Pricing and release dates of this piece remains mute for the moment.
