After failing to reach their targeted audience with Xperia Tablet S, Sony plans to get back into the tablet game with new Tablet Z. But, I highly doubt that to happen.
Like I said, it’s just another tablet packing an 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 10.1-inch display with 1920×1200 resolution, 32GB storage and the power of Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It also includes an 8-megapixel camera which Sony claims as the first backside-illuminated camera. Regarding the design, Sony Xperia Tablet Z stands very thin at only 6.9mm and has an outfit similar to Sony’s Xperia smartphones.
Specs are fairly enough to land in a top shelf . Although, it’s not enough to challenge other powerful and feature-rich tablets in the market, such as Kindle Fire HD, iPad 4 and Nexus 10. Sony, is still far behind in the tablet battle and their latest move doesn’t really make any difference.
Everyday, these top companies are bringing out tablets and smartphones saying it’s the world’s first and the most innovative. But, the truth is, they are all just the same, packing same specs and features in a slightly different body. I often wonder when will we get to see something truly innovative. Probably not for a long time.
