Sony Brings Back the Walkman with New $1200 MP3 Player

Walkman is not ready to give up yet, Sony has come forward with a new Walkman sporting 128GB of storage to revive the old portable music player back from the dead.

Sony used to be the kind of portable music players, back in the 80’s, when they made the radical cassette tape player that you can carry around. But after the arrival of the revolutionary iPod and portable MP3 players, Sony’s products went down the dumpster. And now, the company is trying to make a come back with a new and upgraded music player called Walkman NW-ZX2.

Featuring a 4-inch TRILUMINOS touchscreen, powered by Android 4.2 Jellybean and 128GB of internal storage with a microSD expansion slot, the new Walkman Hi-Res Digital Music Player NW-ZX2 has the ability to play music for up to 60 hours or 33 hours playing Hi-resolution audio.

Although, those specs would probably mean nothing to you when you head about the price of this device. The Walkman NW-ZX2 will set you back $1200, which is actually enough for you get, not one, not two, but four 64GB iPod Touch devices with 4-inch Retina display and 5-megapixel iSight camera.

Sure, the Walkman NW-ZX2 does ship with some of Sony’s audio-enhancing features like S-Master HX digital amplifier and ClearAudio+, but are those really worth this price? Or would you rather listen to music right off your smartphone?
