Story: Sons of Summer starts when Sean (Davidson) gets drawn into one last criminal job. His friend Rick (Fleri) has arranged the job and now they have pissed off the wrong people. Frank (Morrison) is set to investigate who stole his boss’s drugs and it doesn’t take him long to get on Sean’s tail.
However, Frank shows his ruthless side, as he starts hunting down everyone involved. Sean must look into his past to see what is best, whether he should escape once and for all. It would mean committing to Katie (Lucas) and supporting his friends and surfer friends pay tribute to his late father.
Verdict on Sons of Summer
Sons of Summer is an action thriller following a young man drawn back into a life of crime. However, the job goes wrong and he finds himself needing to clean up loose ends, while trying to keep his clean life together.
This movie takes on one of the most typical stories. The one which follows somebody trying to step out of a criminal world, only to get drawn back in. It then puts them in a worse place, forcing them to confront their past to have a future. On the crime side of the story, it does everything you expect, without being as intense as you would have imagined. When you look at the journey between friends, it brings a more sentimental value to the movie. It offers more motivation for Sean to have been in a life of crime and want to step out of it too. In the end, it is a solid movie, one you can enjoy without being one that would last long in the memory.
