Solution to Not Able to Insert Images in a Post Or Page In WordPress

Posted on the 05 May 2013 by Pro Webguru @prowebguru

Recently I was doing some wordpress stuff on a website and faced a weird issue with fresh installation of wordpress. I uploaded images using “Add Media” button. It got successfully uploaded. Later I selected them and clicked “Insert Into Post” and nothing happened. Images were not getting inserted into post.

I was using “Chrome”, so just thought of viewing if there is any error in chrome console by activating it through F12 and moving to console tab.

Yes!

There was a error in Chrome Console “Uncaught TypeError: Property ‘scrollTo’ of object [object global] is not a function“.

I didn’t install any other extra plugin or theme. It was just a basic new fresh setup of latest wordpress and still I was getting this error.

I tried to update and reinstall wordpress, but still same issue.

In between I just opened another browser and opened website there. And tried to insert post again, it was working.

Then I realized that there is some issue with chrome. And may be one of the chrome extensions I have it installed on my machine, causing this issue.

I started disabling extensions one by one.

And I found solution to this problem of not able to insert images in a wordpress post or page.

Actually in Chrome I am using “Better Popup Blocker” extension to get rid of useless popups from different websites.

This plugin was the main culprit of this issue. I just enabled full access to this website by adding an exception in “Better Popup Blocker” settings.

And that’t it!

It started working.

Now I am able to insert images in a wordpress post or pages without getting wordpress “Uncaught TypeError: Property ‘scrollTo’ of object [object global] is not a function” error.

If you are using a plugin something like this to get rid of popups or to block popups then you should add an exception for your site in the settings of that plugin. So that, it will not block popups from your website and you will be able to insert images without any error.

Did you ever face this issue ?
