Sarah Kinlaw and Bryan Keller, aka Brooklyn band SoftSpot (@therealsoftspot), have only been making music together since 2009, but have known each other since kindergarten. While SoftSpot has seen friends and artists come and go as members of the band, their latest addition is percussionist Blaze Bateh. The band’s sound is surprisingly lush for only having 3 members — the fluid transitions and recurring sonic themes are sometimes eerie and tumultuous, but always beautiful. Ethereal? Surreal? Both accurately describe the ambient, atmospheric instrumentals and haunting lyrics, intertwined to form what the band describes as old school new age. “The Cleansing Hour” and “Disciple Fix” are the first two singles from SoftSpot’s debut LP Enso, the follow up to last year’s N O U S EP. You can stream the singles and the N O U S EP on SoftSpot’s Bandcamp page (and download “The Cleansing Hour”). Enso will be self-released September 7, so make sure to follow the band’s Facebook and Twitter pages for more info on tour dates and the upcoming album!
