At the end of April, I shared with you my love for navy, orange, and pink and mentioned that I was helping my sister update her living room and that we'd be going with that color scheme. We've been working on the project for the past couple of weeks and have made a few changes to the original plan, number 1 being the colors. Instead, she's decided to go with navy and aqua with pops of "poppy" here and there. I love it! I can't wait to reveal the transformation, but we still have a few things to accomplish before it's finished. Tomorrow we're headed to Ikea to pick up some Expedits and today I'm transforming her old coffee table into an ottoman. Meanwhile, my sister has been busy painting furniture.
She found this chair for $6 bucks and gave it a major update with some aqua paint.

I liked the idea of giving Jen and her boyfriend a place to work on the computer or pay bills that wasn't in their bedroom. This small wall in their living room was the perfect spot. Jen scoured Craigslist and found this awesome solid wood desk. The original plan was to paint it, but Jen decided she really likes the character of the worn wood. I have to agree with her.
Jen was also in need of a small round pedestal table. She found one at Christmas Tree Shops that many people would have overlooked due to the mural on the top, but for $15, there was potential.

She gave it a coat of aqua paint and it's a brand new table.

In the photo above, you can also see her new chair we found at HomeGoods, curtains and throw from Target, and large basket (from HomeGoods or X-mas Tree shop, I forget). She already had the ladder shelf which she got at some version of the dollar store (crazy!) and was thinking of throwing it out, but I convinced her to hold onto it for a bit. It ended up working beautifully between the two windows. She also already had the pretty round mirror above the shelves.
I picked up this cool area rug from HomeGoods for $50. We also ordered a rug from RugsUSA (everything is 50% off right now), so I'm not sure which one we'll end up going with.
It's been really fun for us working together on this project and bouncing ideas off of each other. I can't wait to share the finished room with you!
