During summertime I had the chance to try teeth whitening for the first time.
I wanted so much to have a brighter smile as some teeth stains bothered me and I gave a try to Smile Brilliant kit.
Before I received the kit, I had to send my dental impressions. This means I received material to put on my teeth and 'depict' the shape of my teeth to create custom fitted trays.
Although I liked the fact that I could do the whitening process at home, without the presence of a dentist and with much lower cost, I was worried about the preparation of my impressions. Actually, this was the part I was afraid of. I had a bad experience when I had a similar procedure at the orthodontist when I was going to wear braces.
Fortunately, in the end that was a piece of cake and I managed to create my impressions as you can see in the photos.
Create your Upper Dental Impressions (Make only one tray at once)
I used a set of catalyst paste and base paste to make a mixture. After you have continuously folded the mixture in half for up to 1 minute and it has turned solid blue, you put it in a tray. Enter the tray in your mouth . When the material is firm, after about 2 minutes, remove the tray (don't remove the impression from the tray). Let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse with water.
Create your Lower Dental Impressions
Repeat with the second set of catalyst paste and base paste to make a mixture to create your lower dental impressions.
There is a 3rd set in case of a mistake. Luckily, I didn't need it!
When your impressions have hardened, they are ready to be shipped back. For USA residents there is a prepaid envelope.
Smile Brilliant Whitening Kit
When your impressions are sent back to the lab, trays especially designed for your teeth are going to be sent with the whitening kit.
Whitening Gel Syringes
(The quantity depends on the package you have selected)
Desensitizing Gel Syringes (optional)

Whitening Process
After you have removed the tip of the syringe, you apply a thin line of the whitening gel on the tray, where the front surface of your teeth goes.
Insert the trays and leave on for 1 to 3 hours. The time depends on how much whitening you need and how much sensitivity you feel.
Then, rinse your mouth with water.
If you feel sensitivity, desensitizing gel is required.
If you suffer from sensitive teeth, using the trays apply some desensitizing gel ‐ like you did with the whitening gel ‐ and leave it in your mouth for about a quarter.
Desensitizing Gel After a few applications, I started using the desensitizing gel before the whitening process too.
I had 10 applications, but none of them was for more than one hour. In fact, most of them were for 30 minutes because of some sensitivity I felt. My teeth didn't turn the brightest white, but I could see some difference.
'No two teeth are naturally colored the same. Some are fortunate to have naturally bright white teeth while others have a naturally off-white or even yellowish tone.
Teeth whitening will NOT alter the natural color of the tooth, it will however remove all stains and restore the tooth to its natural color when used properly.'
