As you may have read on a recent post, during my trip to New York City
I had the pleasure of meeting the design team at Ceci New York.
I’m a HUGE fan of their beautiful work.
And I’m extremely grateful that they choose to use my fonts in their designs on a regular basis.
So a gift was in order. But what?
I knew little about them personally but that the staff was made up of 15 darling young women.
I put the question in the back of my mind, and later while shopping at Michael’s
I saw these 4″ x 4″ white and black canvases.
Next to them were mini easels.
I knew instantly what I could do with them!
(Don’t you love when that happens.)
Back in my studio, I wrote down some of the things that have inspired me over the years.
Especially as a young women trying to figure life out.
Who doesn’t need this reminder when you are in a place that doesn’t seem to fit.I also included encouraging statements.
It’s nice to hear it from others, but why not tell yourself good things?
I included questions I ask myself during my daily walk.As well as things I need to hear when I am in doubt about reaching my goals.
Or in those insecure moments when I feel dwarfed by the amazing talents of others.( It happens to everyone!)
It’s then that I need to go back to the beginning. And notice all the incredible beauty around me.
Reminding myself of the power of “wonder”.And bringing that into my heart.
Checking to make sure I’m not just talking the talk. But taking action each day to create the life I want.
Being clear and focused about what I spend my time doing. Remembering that it all starts with me. Understanding that being scared is a part of growing and trying new things. And in the end sharing the joy of my heart and my life.
Armed with these bits and pieces of sentiments that have helped shape who I am, I began lettering.
Most of the signs feature my Cantoni Calligraphy Font style of lettering.
I enjoyed using different colors and
mixing up script and text lettering to make each sign unique like its recipient.
After all the sentiments were done, each was put in it’s own kraft box nestled on top of fine wood excelsior.
I hand lettered the recipients names in white. And sent them off to New York with fingers crossed.
When I met these lovely girls, they were extremely appreciative of the gifts.
I had suggested in a note that they could exchange canvases with each other, if one was more fitting.
But they assured me that they’d all received the one that was perfect for them.
They have honored me by bringing my fonts to life in so many lovely ways.
( You have to understand my fonts are like children to me.
Seeing them out in the world is like watching your kid in their first kindergarten play.)
I wanted to honor them by sharing the joy in my heart and the lessons that help put it there.
Have a Timeless Tuesday:)
