While helping a client with her wardrobe this past weekend, I was introduced to the SkinnyShirt. It was hanging on the door of her closet and when I didn't recognize it, because I know just about everything she owns, she said, "Oh that is my SkinnyShirt. I love it." On the hanger, it looked like a collared shirt with a slim middle and she explained to me that SkinnyShirts are tops that you use to easily layer under knits and sweaters. I love when clients introduce me to new things. I went home and looked it up.
The SkinnyShirt eliminates the bulk by combining a stylish collar with a comfortable, stretchy knit body. It is shapewear and a shirt all in one that gives you the look of a collared shirt without the bunchiness and bulk. The body is a stretchy knit that smooths and shapes - it's 90% nylon and 10% spandex. The upper and collar is a fine cotton poplin made of 97% cotton and 3% spandex.
If you like the idea of layering your looks but don't like the squirming and contorting that comes with it, then you have to check out this shirt. Below I put five looks together using a few of the styles SkinnyShirt offers to show how you can easily breathe new life into your wardrobe without losing your breath.
Layered looks using the SkinnyShirt
SkinnyShirt Outfit #1
With slim sweaters that will easily show every shirt bump, a shirt like this will eliminate that problem.
SkinnyShirt Outfit #2

SkinnyShirt Outfit #5

In this outfit, I layered the tank under a green cable sweater from Modcloth and skinny cords from J. Crew. The outfit is finished in a casual weekend way with heeled booties from Louise et Cie, a printed scarf from LOFT, hoop earrings from Macy's and bag from Rebecca Minkoff.
If you have looking for easy way to layer your looks without the fuss or discomfort, the SkinnyShirt is definitely worth trying out. They even make pregnancy top styles.
