When you discover you have a breakout it’s the absolute worst–right? As many of you know by now I suffer from a mild case of adult acne–yes it sucks but I have found a skincare regime that has really helped me to combat my acne. My skin has been doing well as of late however I know for those who suffer from acne it can be devastating and in some cases traumatizing  but keep reading to see how you can beat your acne.

How To Treat Every Type Of Acne:

CYSTIC ACNE: Cysts are hard, painful blemishes that develop deep within the skin and will eventually heal but can remain a painful lump for weeks.

TREATMENT: Do not pick at a cyst. Apply ice to the cyst to reduce swelling and soreness and use an acne treatment.

WHITEHEADS: Whiteheads or closed comedones are little clogged bumps under the skin that aren’t red or sore. They’re just clogged pores that appear as white, clear, or flesh-colored bumps under the skin.

TREATMENT: Exfoliate, keeping off surface dead skin cell buildup will help them to purge naturally. Deep pore cleansing facials can be beneficial for removing the impurities within the pores. Once you get the pores cleaned out, exfoliating products work deep within the skin to keep them clean.

BLACKHEADS: Blackheads are large, open pores that contain oil which had oxidized from the air, causing it to turn black.

TREATMENT: Sadly there isn’t really a cure for blackheads however to help you should get monthly deep pore cleansing facials and use well formulated salicylic acid products at home to keep your pores clean long after the facial.

PUSTULES: Are red, inflamed blemishes that contain pus and are known as your traditional zits. They are most likely to cause post breakout red or dark scars if you don’t care for them properly.

TREATMENT: You must not touch these until you can see a whitehead. Then you carefully extract the infected pus and immediately dry it out with a spot treatment.

PAPULES: Are red, painful blemishes that do not quite reach the surface. It’s the stage past a whitehead where bacteria has caused inflammation, resulting in an infected blemish.

TREATMENT: You want to calm your skin, rather than dry it out. Use a topical cortisone cream and ice compresses. These will reduce the inflammation until the whitehead reaches the surface and can be gently extracted.
