Jharkhand has always been the favorite place for scientists and writers. The beauty and the serene nature of the state have attracted some of the great icons of India such as Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose, Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, Satyajit Ray, Rabindranath Tagore, to name a few.
Some of the places where these legends spent quite a few time of their life has now been declared as a heritage. One among the others is the house of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose which is now a museum displaying his life's works.

Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose - Early Life and Work
Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose was a renowned Indian biologist, physicist, and botanist, born on November 30, 1858, at Mymensingh, Bengal Presidency during British Governance of India (now in Bangladesh).
Bose is remembered for his experiments on the quasi-optical properties of very short radio waves in 1895. He also invented Crescograph, a device used for measuring the growth of plants, and made a significant contribution to the study of plant life. Not to forget, Bose was also a writer of science fiction and is known as the father of Bengali science fiction.
Completing his graduation from the St. Xavier's College, Calcutta, he went to the University of London to pursue medicine but end up conducting research with the Nobel Laureate Lord Rayleigh at the University of Cambridge.
Later, he returned to India and joined as a professor of physical science at Presidency College, Calcutta (now Kolkata) in the year 1885. In 1917 he founded Bose research Institue (now Bose Institute) in Calcutta.
A few years after establishing the institute, Bose shifted to Giridih. However, he continued to hold the position of the director for twenty years, till he breathed his last on 23 November 1937 in Giridih.
The Museum
The government has converted his house in Giridih as a museum to honor the great scientist. It displays various scientific contributions made by him towards the world.
The government is also planning to build a university in the name of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose in Giridih, which is indeed great news for his followers across the world.

The museum is located in the town of Giridh, in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is the headquarter of the Giridih district.

Cabs and buses are also available from Ranchi to Giridh, whereas no bus services are available from Kolkata to Giridih. The best way to reach Giridih from Kolkata is by a train.
