I’m off to Maui tomorrow and I fully expect to see this

when I arrive. Before you go and get all jealous and say “must be nice” in a sarcastic tone (which is exactly what I would be doing), know these things:
1. This is a family vacation. I’ll be surrounded by whining, fighting and awkward sharing of space with people I’ve barely seen since 2001. I can’t wait to see my family and the hilarity that will no doubt ensue, but this ain’t no romantic honeymoon.
2. I’ve not been on any ‘vacation’ spanning more than 1 night in a crappy motel in 5 years.
3. Aside from moving to California on my own at 19, the biggest changes in my life have happened in the last few years. It’s been a rough time, and prepping for this trip has offered me moments of luxury that I’ve needed for so long.
Now that I’ve said it, let me follow up with a “yes, it IS nice.” I know I’m so lucky to be going and determined to have a great time no matter what!
Have a wonderful weekend, and next week I’ve got fun guests here to keep you entertained.
