Singye Premiere Show Will Be At The Lugar Theatre In Thimphu | 26th October 2018

The first Indo-Bhutan feature film involving artists and technicians from both the countries, Singye is set to hit the screens on 26th October 2018

Singye will solely have a Bhutan release this year. The Premiere show will be at the Lugar theatre in Thimphu. Lugar theatre is the oldest Cinema Hall in Bhutan, and the first movie to be screened there was a Hindi film. This year marks the 50 years of Indo-Bhutan friendship and hence, the makers have decided to screen the first Indo-Bhutan film at the prestigious theatre. The International release of Singye will happen sometime next year.

As the two countries celebrate 50 years of friendship, it is not just coincidence that this Indo-Bhutan production is released on time. Singye has been a long term dream of Biplab J. Doley, CEO and founder of Strawberry Magic productions (India) and Paljor Gyabak, founder of project Bhutan Entertainment (Bhutan) over the last couple of years as they worked together in the blockbuster Baeyul- a hidden paradise, back in 2015.

The film features Sangay Tsheltrim, former Mr Bhutan in bodybuilding as the main protagonist of the film. The female lead is played by the very popular Bhutanese actress Tshering Yangki. Thakur Anoop Singh (Commando 2, Singham 3) a former World Champion in bodybuilding from the Bollywood industry plays a very important character in the film. He will be the first Indian actor to have been featured in a Bhutanese film.

The film with a lot of action revolves around a retired undercover agent, who is called back with his old team to curtail drug scenario. The film to be released in Dzongkha, Nepali and Assamese language, features several other popular Bhutanese actors like Sonam Tenzin, Lhamo Drukpa, Karma Choechung and so on. The film is to be directed by Sonam Dorji (Casper), who had won the National Award for best editing in 2017. It is to be noted that the film also has a number of Indians in the technical team including Kangkan Rajkhowa (dir. Singyor, Dur) as the film editor, Priyanku Baruah as the art director and Debojit Gayan (Handuk) as the sound designer.
