Does a desire for sin lead to a decision to reject Christianity, either before conversion or after? I am sure that it does happen. I have known pastors who have left their spouse for someone else and this makes things difficult for remaining in the church. However, I have not often seen Christians leave the faith because they wanted to live a life of sin. As for non-Christians, there are some who do not want to give up their lifestyle. Even so, those who encounter real Christianity most often will turn away from sin, even if it does not happen right away.
I am not saying that there is no relationship between sin and unbelief. Often there is another reason for the person to give up on the faith and they try to dull the spiritual pain by embracing sin. Others may have given up the faith and then try to life a life of sin to be more consistent with their worldview. They may also try to hide from the conviction they feel by covering it with sin. Again, some may desire sin so much that they decide to reject Christianity, but I have not seen it too often.
