Sigur Ros Soars in with Their New Single ‘isjaki’ [video]

With their new album Kveikur approaching, Sigur Rós has released another single to tide millions of eager fans over, this time in the form of a lyric video. Although certainly still dense, “Ísjaki” is a bit brighter and celebratory than the dark material from the album we’ve heard so far. The percussion is prominent and thundering, acting as a sort of battle cry throughout the song. The strings and Jonsi’s vocals create the signature atmosphere that Sigur Rós is well known for — sounding as though they could reach all the way across the planet, encircling everyone they come across.

It’s another indication that their newest album may be one of their best yet. Kveikur is scheduled to be released via XL Recordings on June 17th.
