Should You Care About A Spiritual Journey?

By Albert Wagner @albertwagner4

The posts in this blog are meant to get you to think.

These posts do not proclaim to have all the answers. However, looking at some references is a starting point for you to think to somehow improve your life.

One question these posts might lead a person to ask is,

" Why should I care about a spiritual journey or have one in my life?"

One of the observations the author has made is how people - at least in America - tend to focus on things that are more outwardly and superficial.

Many people go through life focused on things like their own ego. They place emphasis on status, recognition and what other people think of them.

Yet many are left unfulfilled.

Some of these people might even appear "tough" or "macho" on the outside. They want people to think of how great they are.

These posts, however, get people to think about what is on the inside.

The inside might be a whole different story. This is even brought up in the Gospels. For instance,

Now you Pharisees clean the outside of the cup and of the platter; but inside of you, you are full of robbery and wickedness.

- Luke 11:39

If you just try to impress other people you might not be expressing yourself properly. This repression leads to all sorts of other problems; substance abuse, physical abuse, stealing, gambling, neglect, etc.

You should care about a spiritual journey because it can change your life.

A spiritual journey won't eliminate all of your problems, but it can help put you on the right path to self-discovery and improvement.

Is A Spiritual Journey For Me?

If you want to help yourself a good idea is to look deep down to your root problems. (Hint: abuse, stealing, gambling, neglect are not the root problem).

The root problem leads to these things.

You might find that "Keeping up with the Joneses" leaves you longing for more. When John D. Rockefeller was once asked how much wealth would make him happy he responded, "a little more."

Satan is called the God of This World in the New Testament. (2 Corinthians 4:4)

Should You Care About A Spiritual Journey?

Are you fooling someone outwardly?

A spiritual journey is intended for everyone, as everyone is a Creation of God.

How Does A Spiritual Journey Help?

So, how would it help you to be on a spiritual journey?

A spiritual journey helps you look deep down, to the root of the problem. By addressing this, it could help prevent other problems (with God's help, of course).

People think they are the cause of everything.

Acknowledging the hand of God helps take the focus off of you.

Are you on a spiritual journey?

Hopefully this post helped spur you to think about the larger meaning of life and your place in it.
