Shopping in Downtown Buenos Aires: Editor Market

By Expanishargentina @expanish

If you’ve been in Buenos Aires a while, you might have noticed that it can be difficult to find cool clothes that are of good quality. If you have, you might want to check out the Editor Market which is a new department store that has opened on the corner of Corrientes and San Martin. There is also one in Palermo on Dorrego and Nicaragua. They describe themselves as a brand new shopping experience, a groundbreaking retail concept and it is nine floors of fashion and interior design products.

We went for a look around and we loved it. It really does have everything you need in one place. Menswear, womenswear, kids, beautiful things for the home, cosmetics, perfume and a really great coffee store and takeaway on the ground floor. What makes it different is the cutting edge look and feel of the place and the fact that their products are from Argentina´s up and coming and established designers.   The store is more like a showroom than simply a shop. The way everything is decorated has been carefully thought out and it really does look amazing. There has been a lot of attention to detail when it comes to the look and feel of the place from feathered walls in the ladies’ section to the artwork between floors in the stairways.

You might have heard the saying “you buy cheap, you buy twice” and this can be true. Yes, some of the products are expensive (and some are really expensive…) but you can find affordable things too, especially amongst the sale items right now. To be honest, it is worth a visit even if it just to browse and have a look around.

The coffee and takeaway on the ground floor is also filled with beautiful furniture and the food looks great!   Like the sign says: “9 pisos – no excuses” – go and see for yourself.
