A fishmonger was hospitalised after being shot by unidentified assailants traveling in a car in the Gandara area of Matara, police said.
According to the Police Media Spokesperson, two individuals arrived in a motorcycle and opened fire at the victim while he was selling fish in front of a supermarket in the Deundara area.
The injured man was admitted to the Matara Hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.
The suspects fled the scene following the shooting, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those involved, police said. (Newswire)
