Last week a client of mine told me she was looking for some shirtdresses because she wanted something that she could just throw on with a pair of shoes and wear to work. Shirtdresses have an appeal for the reason because they look finished without a lot of effort or layers; perfect for warm weather. I also love the ladylike elegance of shirtdresses and the fact that the cinched waist can create an hourglass figure without being too confining.
Shirtdresses for spring
The good news is that shirtdresses are everywhere this spring at all price points. Doing a little of shopping for my client there were plenty to choose from. If you are looking for some styles yourself, check out my outfits below along with some additional dresses at the end of this post.
Outfit #1
This cotton shirtdress from Theory is the epitome of what many women think about when they consider a crisp look. I styled it with a fun pair of polka dot t-strap heels, a coral crossbody bag from Matt & Nat, soft pink Dee Berkley drop earrings, and a link bracelet from J. Crew.
Outfit #2
This shirtdress from Reiss has more of a safari feel and the color is perfect for those with warm skin tones. I styled this dress with a pair of Vince Camuto open toe booties, Rebecca Minkoff hobo, tortoise hoop earrings from Lauren Ralph Lauren, and printed scarf from Akris Punto.
Outfit #3
While often known for being crisp and sharp, you will also be seeing a lot of drapier shirtdresses in the stores this spring, like this one from Banana Republic. Not a fan of prints? No problem. There are plenty of solid styles out there like this one, too. I styled this dress with a pair of block heels from Marc Fisher ( block heels are all the rage right now), a soft blue bag from Brahmin, and teardrop earrings in the same blue shade from Monica Vinader.
