Shenmue 3 Will Only Offer a True Open World If $10 Million Funding is Met
Posted on the 22 June 2015 by Sameo452005 @iSamKuliiA truly open-world Shenmue 3 experience will only become a reality if Kickstarter funding reaches at least $10 million, the game's creator Yu Suzuki has confirmed.
"I will say this: if we reach the $5 million mark, one of the things I really want to do with Shenmue 3 will become a reality. At $10 million, it will truly have the features of an open world," he confirmed in a Reddit Ask Me Anything.
Although funding for Shenmue 3 got off to a record-breaking start, $10 million remains a long way from the $3.5 million currently achieved.
Suzuki also confirmed that Shenmue 3 will utilise assets from Shenmue and Shenmue 2, and told fans to look out for Forklift gameplay as a stretch goal.
He even suggested that we could see another two games after the release of Shenmue 3 in order to complete his 11 chapter story for the saga.
"There are a total of 11 chapters that make up the whole story," said Suzuki. "Over the past 14 years I originally planned for there to 4 or five games to the series. If at all possible, I would still like to realize the full story of 11 chapters."
