Twitter is planning to toughen up its tweeting rules in the new year by cutting down on characters that offered us when sharing links. Right now Twitter is offering its’ users to explain their links with 120 characters. But, starting in February 2013 Twitter is going to cut that number by 2 to 118-characters.

And that’s only for normal links starting with http://. For other secured links starting with https:// will get even worse treatment with 3 less characters.

Folks over at Huffington Post suggests that this could be a method to increase the number of “t.co” links, which becomes the link-shortner for your URLs shared on Twitter.  Either way, things are about to get even harder in next year because you will have two less characters when tweeting links.

Looks like Twitter character limit is getting reduced faster than ever. It wont be long before they cut down the character limit to 100 or even fewer. Would this be a problem to you? Are you thinking about suing Twitter?
