Daughter Dear came into the kitchen to fix her breakfast before she got ready to head out to work. So, I offered her a few options for lunch while I was fixing my breakfast-to-go.
Me: Do you want a ham and cheese sandwich, peanut butter and honey or do you just want to make your own lunch?
Her: It doesn't really matter to me as long as I don't have to make it.
Good enough! Peanut butter and honey it is. If I hadn't been willing to make her a sandwich, I wouldn't have offered it as an option. None the less, as I prepared to pack her lunch into a brown paper bag, we had this conversation:
Me: Do a lot of people at your work eat at the food court or bring their own food in a brown paper bag? Should I write your name on this bag so you know it's yours?
Her: That would be a bad idea... and embarrassing.
Me: Do you want me to draw little hearts on it? Or flowers?
Her: Uhh......
Me: Do you want me to put cute animal stickers on your bag? Draw you little princess crowns?
Her: Or... I write my own name on the bag. That part I can do for myself.
Good enough Daughter Dear.
Good enough!
So proud of her. She's in her early 20's and on her way to becoming self sufficient.
