See You After Labor Day: In the Meantime…

See You After Labor Day: In the Meantime…

Every summer, I take time off from blogging in August. Typically, I kick it off the week I leave for Vegas to speak at MAGIC, which I leave for next Monday. These were my plans, to blog this week and put the blog on hiatus next week. However, my health had other plans.

It started on Sunday when some overzealous knitting from the weekend gave me a hand injury. As weird as that must sound to non-knitters, hand injuries from the repetitive motion of knitting are incredibly common, particularly when you go on a bender as I did. Just as my hand was starting to feel better, I developed a fever out of the blue that lasted 24 hours. I still have no idea what caused it. When the fever went down, I developed gastrointestinal issues. By Friday I had a doctor’s appointment booked for this week and was feeling a bit better, but after the week I had, I couldn’t get myself together to create new blog posts. So I called it and decided to go on hiatus a week early. I think the world will spin on whether or not I blog this week.

What happens while I am gone

I still see clients

During my blogging hiatus, I only take a break from blogging. I still see clients, so don’t worry if you have time booked with me or were thinking of calling for style help. I’m here.

You can find me in the Facebook Group

I have a vibrant and lovely Facebook Group. It’s a warmhearted and helpful community and you will definitely be able to find me there. If you aren’t a member, you can find out more here.

The Facebook Group is supporting The Clean Clothes Campaign

I’m very proud of this Facebook Group initiative that I started in June. Each month, half the earnings the group makes through subscription fees get donated to fashion-related organizations and causes making a difference.

In June, the group made a charitable donation to Transcend Charlotte and in July we donated to Responsibility in Fashion. This month, the group will be making a charitable donation to The Clean Clothes Campaign, a global alliance dedicated to improving working conditions and empowering workers in the global garment and sportswear industries. Since 1989, CCC has worked to ensure that the fundamental rights of workers are respected. We educate and mobilize consumers, lobby companies and governments, and offer direct solidarity support to workers as they fight for their rights and demand better working conditions.

I will be sharing ‘Best Of’ posts

It’s easy to catch all the blog posts I share. What I like to do during my hiatus is to share some popular archived posts on my Facebook Page. Don’t if you aren’t a member of the closed Facebook Group, these will be shared on my public page, which you can find here.

I’ll be speaking to retailers at MAGIC

This will be my 3rd trip to Las Vegas this year. From the sound of this, you would think I actually like the city. Vegas isn’t my scene and in August you can fry an egg on the pavement. What brings me there is MAGIC, one of the biggest fashion tradeshows in the world, as a speaker. As a personal stylist, I speak to retailers about setting up styling services in their stores.

If there is the chance you’ll be at MAGIC too, I will be speaking on August 13th at 11:30am at the Las Vegas Convention Center Upper level- South Hall/S 233.

I will be enjoying some much needed time off

Lastly, I will be enjoying some downtime. I don’t take much time off during the year and as much as I love blogging, I really savor this break. I will be back on September feeling fresh and with fresh content ready to go.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!!
