Secret Colours: Peach

Blackhole, the lead single for the new Secret Colours album Peach pretty sums up what this Chicago neo-psych band is up to: creating dreamy songs that intend to shut out the common crap of everyday life. Musical escapism, when delivered properly, isn't a bad thing however. With their kind of music epigonism should triumph over plagiarism and they just about made it.

In their quest to channel sixties psychedelic rock it wouldn't hurt if they stray from the beaten track. Songs like Who You Gonna Run To, with snippets of modern day synth flourishes on top of garage back beat, and the swagger of Lust lift this album a notch above the average tag.

Secret Colours:
Tommy Evans: vocals, guitar
Dave Stach: guitar, backing bocals
Justin Frederick: drums
Eric Hehr: bass
