Scooter-riding Dog Sets Guinness World Record by Going 100 Feet Without Help

NormanThis dog had his day.

A 3-year-old French sheepdog named Norman rode his scooter all the way into the Guinness Book of World Records on Friday in Marietta, Ga.

Norman scooted 100 feet in 20.75 seconds with approximately 100 people cheering him on in a local gymnasium. Known as “Norman the Scooter Dog,” he needed to go the distance — without assistance — in under 30 seconds to enter the record books.

The distance was a little longer than what Norman is used to, so he had to practice. But Norman, who amazingly also gets his own food from the fridge, puts his own dishes in the dishwasher and towels himself off, was up to the task.

“We had just gotten an email from Guinness and they said, ‘Hey we designed a new record, and we wanted to see if Norman would be interested in setting it,’” Norman’s owner Karen Cobb said. “So of course we said yes, how much fun does that sound!”
