“Sand, Sea and Spray” is a free urban arts festival that has happened for the past two years in Blackpool, UK.
After last years event proved to be so successful, the organisers got over 40 artists painting in 6 locations this year and there was also a live stage featuring street dance and a fashion show.
Artists such as Inkie, Kem and Mef, Zina, Cosmo, Title, Kashink, Kelzo, Lonac, Ben Slow and Osch took part in the event that happened between 15th-17th June 2012 and the principle idea was to turn the resort into one huge art gallery.
This is a great event that should now become a regular annual occurence and maybe, further down the line, come to rival the “Upfest” festival that happens every year in Bristol, UK.
When you consider the amount of amazing artwork that has been created in the past two years and also that some of the sponsors of this event are the likes of Blackpool Council, Lottery Funded Arts Council of England and Virgin Trains, I know it will go on to be a great success!
Within this post though you will find a selection of photo’s from this year and last years event and, eventhough some of the artwork has been there for over a year, it has been really well respected and untouched (I managed to sneak in a quick tour around the area whilst I was there for a weekend celebrating one of my friends 40th birthday)
