The second single to come from San Fermin’s Ellis Ludwig-Leone is an expansive march. From horns, bells, twinkling piano and a choir of female voices to a low, rumbling and nearly acapella lead vocal, “Daedalus (What We Have)” covers all the bases. The track blossoms from its stripped down beginning into a lush and lavish, medieval sounding affair. Throughout the first few minutes, the grave tone melds with the sparse instrumentation, hinting at this latter part without giving too much away. The steady drum beat and regal sounding horns underscore this mood during the second, more upbeat section of the song. San Fermin manages to avoid making this sound cliche, however, by including a light-hearted piano part. A totally different vibe than the band’s first single, “Sonsick”, this song showcases San Fermin’s ability to create an extended composition.
