San Fermin captivated the crowd at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis on Tuesday night, playing many tracks from their newly released album Jackrabbit, as well as a handful from their self-titled 2013 record. Cozy on the small stage, the eight members filled the venue with bold brass sounds and powerful lead vocals from Allen Tate and Charlene Kaye. The audience included dedicated San Fermin fans in the front row singing each line, as well as curious concertgoers, who were quickly entranced by the unique sound of the band.
The show ended with the title track from the new album and a powerful ovation from the crowd, which quickly brought the band back onstage for an encore. A yell came from the audience as the band settled back on stage: “Just play the whole set over again!”, and Tate humbly smiled, offering up two more songs: the emotional track “Renaissance!” and finally a unique and infectious cover of Weezer’s “Buddy Holly”, which had the whole club singing and soaking in the final sounds of the night.
