Yesterday morning in San Bernardino, southern California, at the Inland Regional Center (IRC) that helps people with developmental disabilities, reportedly three masked “white males” stormed into the Center and shot and killed county employees gathered in one of the rooms for a Christmas party.
The San Bernardino shooting is called the deadliest mass shooting since the alleged shooting deaths of 20 first-graders and 6 adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012. (For the links to all the posts FOTM has published on the Sandy Hook hoax, click here.)
At 10 p.m. last night, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan told the press that:
- 14 people are confirmed dead; 17 wounded.
- A “tip” took police to a house in the city of Redlands where they found the suspects’ black SUV. Police pursued the SUV back into the city of San Bernardino, resulting in a shootout involving some 20 officers.
- The two suspects in the SUV, a male and female dressed in “assault-style” clothing, were killed:
- Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, U.S. born.
- Tashfeen Malik, 27.
There is much confusion as to what Syed Farook looked like. At first, the media and bloggers found the Facebook page of a Syed Farook, which most likely was the source of this pic posted on Scallawag and Vagabond. , that the blog claims to be a pic of Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik.
Alas, it turned out that Syed Rizwan Farook has a brother also named Syed Farook, but with a different middle name, Raheel. The Facebook page was of Syed Raheel Farook; the page is now no longer available. (To add to the confusion, Syed Rizwan’s divorced father is also named Syed Farook.)
Here’s a pic of the shooter Syed Rizwan Farook. ↓ I haven’t been able to locate a pic of Tashfeen Malik.

- Farook was an Environmental Specialist (for 5 years) with the Public Health Department of San Bernardino County Government. He was at the Health Department’s Christmas party held in a room in the Inland Regional Center. He left the party early, was angry about something, then presumably returned 20 minutes later with Malik, both dressed in combat gear, masks, vests, and brandishing AK-47s.
- Farook’s coworkers describe him as well-liked, quiet and polite, with no obvious grudges against anyone in the office. Coworkers said he had recently traveled to Saudi Arabia and returned with a woman he met online. The couple had a baby and appeared to be “living the American dream”.
- Police are “reasonably confident” that Farook and Malik, who may have been married or engaged, were the same two people who opened fire at the holiday party Wednesday morning. (Los Angeles Times)
- Farook and Malik are identified as married by Christopher Koulouris of Scallywad & Vagabond.
- Farook and Malik were armed with assault rifles and handguns. Two of the weapons used in the shooting were legally purchased, according to Meredith Davis, public information officer for the ATF in Los Angeles. (Los Angeles Times)
- A third person was detained in the area where the pursuit ended, but authorities said they had not connected that person to the shooting. During the news conference, Burguan said police believe there were only two shooters — and both are (conveniently) dead. (Los Angeles Times)
Other bits and pieces on this latest mass shooting:
1. SWAT teams searched house-to-house in a five-block area near the shootout.
Reminiscent of how police locked down an entire city, Watertown — a suburb of Boston — in search of the Boston Marathon bombers. Police in SWAT gear went house to house, stormed people’s homes and conducted illegal searches. See:

2. A man interviewed by CNN wore a Free Mason cap.
The unnamed man isn’t himself a witness of the shooting, but claimed that he was told what had happened by someone he knows — a man who “works inside the building” on the first floor. In other words, Masonic man was relating hearsay. My question is why was CNN interviewing this man who isn’t a witness?3. YouTube blocks a video taken by an employee inside the Center, on the grounds that “This video contains content from R.T.I., who has blocked it on copyright grounds”.
The employee, Gabi FLores, was in the Inland Regional Center building (where she works as a customer service coordinator) when the took place. She gave radio station KPCC permission to post the video. KPCC said “In the video, you can see an officer leading the group to safety. At one point, he says: ‘Try to relax, try to relax. I’ll take a bullet before you do, that’s for damn sure.'”
4. An active-shooter drill was taking place near the shooting.
There was a San Bernardino police training exercise near the Center, with police conveniently already suited up in SWAT clothes. (NBC Los Angeles)
Just two days before the Inland Regional Center shooting, on Nov. 30, there was an active-shooter drill just up the road from the Center, at Victor Valley College, complete with students role-playing as mass shooting victims.
In fact, a nurse at the Inland Regional Center named Dorothy Vong told the Los Angeles Times that “they have active shooter drills every month or so” at the Center. When the shooting began at the Center, Vong texted her husband that it was just another drill. She even took a video with her cell-phone of police and SWAT teams converging on the building. Then she realized it was “real”. You can see her video beginning at the 4:14 mark of the video below:
5. Cries for gun control
Although never once have Obama and Hillary decried the gun homicides in Chicago every weekend, both immediately jumped on the San Bernardino shooting with verbal hand-wringing about how all this gun violence must stop:
- Obama told CBS News “We have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.”
- Hillary Clinton tweeted “I refuse to accept this as normal. We must take action to stop gun violence now.”
Obama has said gun-control tops his agenda for the remainder of his term, i.e., 13 months. Both Obama and Hillary have lauded Australia’s gun confiscation.
The media too are doing the same. See the L.A. Times‘ “The U.S. infatuation with guns is bordering on a society-wide suicidal impulse“.
update
Syed Farook, who was born in Illinois of immigrant parents from Pakistan, was a Muslim who was recently “radicalized” when he visited Saudi Arabia. He returned to the U.S. with a wife, Malik, whom he had met online. The couple dropped off their baby with her grandmother, saying they had a doctor’s appointment, before they went on their deadly rampage. (LA Times)
L. A. Times reports today (Dec. 3) that “White House officials are seeking a way to use executive authority to close the so-called gun show loophole that allows thousands of people to buy guns each year without a background check.” Obama, of course, is ignoring the fact that none of this would have affected Farook and Malik because two of the weapons they allegedly used had been legally purchased from a gun store.
