Verizon Wireless knows my great good love of picture-taking and asked if I wanted to switch out the iPhone 4S for the new Samsung Galaxy Camera.

I read a few tech reviews and didn’t like what I saw but I made the switch because I had  to see for myself–and boy, am I glad I did!

I know something that your typical tech blogger doesn’t seem to know: I know for whom this camera was made.

See, I have a nice Canon DSL. It goes on all our Indiana town trips and has done a great job.

But what it can’t do? It can’t accompany me so easily on a bike ride or a walk or a trip to the store. I don’t really want to lug around a girly camera bag when I’m huffing and puffing through cornfield-lined roads seeing how fast I can make my favorite loop.

But I also have learned that I can’t ride empty-handed! Remember the baby bunnies?

I thought I could rely on the iPhone 4S, but sometimes…it just can’t capture what I want. As amazing as the iPhone 4S images have turned out, it can lack range.

That means that there may be a field or a fast-moving animal that it just can’t capture like an actual camera could. Please meet my new friend: the Samsung Galaxy Camera.

So no–this camera wasn’t made for tech bloggers, folks who mostly sit at their desk and play with gadgets all day, it was made for Indiana bloggers and doers like you and me: people who are on the go and living! It was made for people who really, really like to take pictures and who don’t want to miss a thing.

It also contains access to the ‘net so you can still post to your accounts with ease–and download new  apps as needed. That is a definite must for me so I can update Flickr, Tumblr, and the little Indiana Facebook Page while on the go!

When I brought out the Samsung Galaxy Camera at the Northwest Indiana Tweet-Up, one man asked if it was the camera with the apps. I got to show him first-hand the neat features of this one. He was impressed (and had a fancy pants DSLR camera of his own).

It’s slim enough to tuck into a coat pocket without worrying about it. I’ve attached a lanyard from the classy T8 STORM iPhone case so that when the kids use the camera, I don’t need to worry if their fingers slip. I’m all paranoid like that.

Really, this type of camera has all the features I need: terrific manual tweaks, awesome and unexpected auto settings, as well as instant uploadability. Did I make up that word? You betcha!

Thank you to Verizon Wireless for letting me play with the latest toys in exchange for honest feedback and reviews like this one.
