S&S; Review: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Vita) Title: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Vita Format: PS Vita Release Date: June 12, 2012 Publisher: Konami Developer:  Kojima Productions Price: $39.99 ESRB Rating: M If you've been reading my reviews for a while, you'll know that I am a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, and with any new chance to play it, I quickly take advantage of it.
S&S; Review: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Vita) Presentation and Story: The Vita version of the MGS HD collection includes MGS1 and MGS2.  One difference between the Vita version and the console versions is the inclusion of Metal Gear Solid HD instead of MGS Peace Walker.  Each game's specific narrative is great, and if you haven't played either of them yet, you're in for a complex story woven into many deep unfathomable layers.  This will probably be your last time to try and fully understand Kojima's tales.  The visuals and audio are as good as ever.  Some might even say the game looks better, because of the Vita's smaller but gorgeous screen. Even with MGS1, its the best the game is ever gonna look. David Hayter's role as Snake sounds more raspier and edgier than before.  The soundtrack as well is nothing less than perfection, offering up some of the best music video games have to offer.  Metal Gear Solid is worldly renown for its fantastic presentation across the board. S&S; Review: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Vita) Core Gameplay: The core gameplay in these MGS titles are pretty much the same as the previous renditions of the games.  Its a little weird playing these newer games, then going back to MGS3( which is still my favorite ), and not being able to shoot and move at the same time.  The Vita version does bring a cool new touch control system that streamlines the cumbersome inventory system.  You can easily equip or unequip any item or weapon with a few swipes on the frontal touch screen.  It works great and never appears to be a tacked on feature.  Included in the package is the MGS2 Substance version, the Subsistence version of MGS3 with the new 360 camera.  If you really wanna get back to your old school days, the original Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 MSX2 games are also included.  This is one the best packages that is packed to the brim with content, all on your handheld. S&S; Review: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (Vita) Final Thoughts: The PS Vita has received the best HD collection in MGS.  The visuals are crisper and cleaner thanks to the Vita's luscious screen.  At $40 bucks, its yet another collection to get your hands on.
