Samaya - Ayurverdic SkincareDo you know about SAMAYA? It's a brand that you may have not seen before but it's one that works very differently compared to others. Finding balance and harmony is an impossible task in the world right now, but we can at least try and this is what this brand is all about.

Welcome, Samaya Skincare

SAMAYA is an all-natural skincare brand based on Ayurvedic principles, which helps you achieve samadosha or a ‘perfect balance’ in your life beginning with your skin. SAMAYA curates the finest authentic elements of Ayurveda, marrying them with clinically proven active ingredients and anti-ageing compounds, to provide effective skincare through a relaxing, holistic experience. It is free from Parabens, Sulphates, PEGS, Mineral oils, fragrance, silicones etc The range delivers immediate results – wrinkles are visibly reduced and skin appears smoother, more balanced and radiant – while imparting a tangible sense of calm and tranquillity in the process.
The founder of the brand, Abida Halstenberg, wanted to make Ayurveda accessible in an aesthetically pleasing, elegant and sophisticated form, with close attention paid to the aromas and textures of each product. For this reason, the individual elements of SAMAYA combine to create an immersive sensory experience. Imparting a feeling of peaceful tranquillity, it becomes a relaxing and indulgent process to look forward to every day.

Choosing Your Dosha! (test here)

Dosha; the name given to the energies that govern every individual.
Any Ayurvedic doctor will always ask questions about your skin type, body type and body function. The aim of these questions is to determine what Dosha or constitution you are. So, choosing what products you need for your skin all comes down to your 'dosha'; not a weird term for dosh, wedge, cash, reddies etc this is all about life and balance. The brand is based around the belief that in order to achieve and maintain balance, we should pay attention to our lifestyle as a whole. To do this, they need our dosha type. You simply take the ‘Discover your dosha’ test to determine which of the three types – Vata, Pitta or Kapha – is your dominant dosha. This is not by any way medical system, it just helps you choose products that are more likely to be 'you'.
PITTA – Well-proportioned and compact build, with a focused mind and a love of order. Confident and passionate, enjoying challenges. Prone to anger and impatience when out of balance. Benefits from gentle skincare as skin can be sensitive and irritable, susceptible to wrinkles, sunburn and inflammation
KAPHA – Laidback and easy-going with a stable, steady energy level. Often has a strong physical frame but can be lethargic or apathetic if out of balance. Takes a relaxed, reasonable approach to life and can be compassionate, gentle and kind. Skin is usually thick and pale, can be radiant and glowing, but with clogged pores or excess oil when out of balance.
VATA - Energetic and creative in balance (yes) but worried, tired and indecisive when out of balance (yes!). Often of slender build and suffers from cold hands and feet (always!). Tends to have delicate dry skin and hair (yes!) which may need extra moisturising and nourishment to keep it glowing and healthy" = CHECK!
In case you had not guessed, I took the test and came out as VATA!

The Product Range

The range is very simple and easy to follow. For each dosha type, the product range includes a rich, hydrating cleansing balm, a powerful anti-ageing cream, an anti-ageing treatment oil and nourishing skincare supplements. For those who get overwhelmed by brands having hundreds of items in their range, this is definitely one for you.
In today’s very anxiously paced world, a brand that delivers relaxing and indulgent premium skincare is a step in luxury Self Care
I love any brand that has a spa/aromatherapy feel which is why this drew me in because I do think that skincare should be an experience and just a 'step'. I started with the Facial Oil, got totally hooked ... hence the rest of the range was kindly sent our for me to try and well spoiler alert, you already know I love them.

FYI; the glass packaging and neutral tone is without a doubt clean cut and very aesthetically pleasing that I know many IG bods will love! It is elegant, chic and sophisticated.
I will run through my collection of products that have individually all shone ...

Samaya Ayurvedic Skincare

Vata Hydrating Cleanser | 100ml £59 (here)

A unique formulation providing hydration while cleansing and purifying the skin. Developed with powerful Ayurvedic botanicals such as Rose, Turmeric, Tulsi, Gotu Kola and Ashwagandha, this cleanser melts into the skin, helping to remove make-up and lift impurities, leaving skin feeling balanced, purified, softer and more radiant.
Cream cleansers are generally not my preferred cleanser of choice but this is very different to others creams I have used in the past. I like to use this as a morning cleanse or a second cleanse after a balm or oil; its a beautifully rich cream/gel texture that is so cooling and comforting on the skin from the moment it touches. It has a lovely gentle scent and the glass bottle makes it feels very luxurious to use. I can tell you now, sensitive or dry skins will absolutely adore this one! You can tissue or wash off but either way it leaves your skin clean, calm and really comforted.

Vata Anti-Ageing Cream | 50ml £89 (here)

Formulated with powerful Ayurvedic botanicals and clinically proven anti-ageing ingredients, this rapidly absorbing moisturiser contains an intensive blend of active compounds that visibly reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The result is skin that feels supple and firm, with a youthful and revitalised appearance. Ayurvedic ingredients such as Rose, Turmeric, Tulsi, Gotu Kola and Ashwagandha are prescribed specifically to help balance the Vata dosha.
The gorgeous soft scent is the same as the cleanser which is why I love using this moisturiser. The texture is perfect; it's not too rich yet not too light which is why this one absorbs into skin perfectly leaving just a subtle yet lovely natural glow. I was very impressed to know that this may seem gentle to use bit its ingredients are wrinkle fighters, which is why I love it. I use it both day and night as it balances my skin so well! In the evening I apply one drop of the Vata Facial oil over the top of this and they work perfectly together on my skin. Again I love the glass bottle and pump application as it feels so clean and luxe to start or end a day with. I would say this Cream and the Facial oil are the products that give me the biggest spa-like feel!

Vata Anti-Ageing Treatment Oil | 30ml £79 (here)

A concentrated blend of Ayurvedic botanicals and clinically proven active anti-ageing ingredients, this powerful treatment oil comprehensively targets the signs of skin-ageing, visibly reducing the appearance of wrinkles. High-performance Ayurvedic infusions such as Rose, Turmeric, Tulsi, Gotu Kola and Ashwagandha are harnessed in a quick-absorbing formula, resulting in skin that appears youthful and radiant, whilst its calming aroma imparts a deep sense of tranquillity.
This is initially the very first product that I tried from Samaya and I have to say, my favorite. It is no secret that I adore facial oils and this one is perfection on my skin. It is lovely and lightweight, smells beautiful and really makes a difference to the way my skin looks and feels. I sometimes like to do a little massage or use a Guasha alongside it to add to the experience of this oil. Whenever I feel my skin needs calm or hydration or just some TLC, I reach for this one. I do use it alongside other brands too of course and this is just always a hero in my routine. FYI; it works really well under makeup and if you want a really natural dewy look, then add a drop into your base of choice and it's just stunning! It is not heavy yet not too light and leaves my skin looking healthy and with getting older, I want all the help I can get to keep my skin looking its best without any injectable help! If you want to dip your toe into the brand then let the oils be a good starting point as I can honestly say they are divine. I agree totally that the range gives instant results; this one especially. The only product I haven't tried is the exfoliant ... extra to this routine but this is the full product line up!

Vata Supplements | 60 capsules £39 (here)

A unique blend of powerful all-natural Ayurvedic and proven active ingredients to support healthy, youthful-looking and radiant skin from within as part of your daily skincare routine. Authentic Ayurvedic herbs combine with Hyaluronic Acid, CoQ10, Vitamin E and Vitamin C to promote the formation of collagen in your skin, help tissue repair, strengthen your immune system and combat tiredness and fatigue. In addition to our proprietary SamayaPlus™ blend of Turmeric, Triphala, Gotu Kola and Aloe Vera concentrate, our Vata supplement includes healing and nourishing herbs such as Tulsi and Amla to balance dry and dehydrated Vata skin.
I was kindly sent these most recently so I am taking them as we speak! I am all for trying supplements as they have helped me no end with my health so anything that will add goodness to my skin from outside in gets my vote too. It's medley of anti-ageing ingredients instantly made me want to take them! Obviously, it is too soon for me to say if they have made a difference but I do feel my skin has looked brighter since using the while range and these are an added bonus that I feel add to the effects of the range.

Final Thoughts of Samaya ...

I will admit, I really wasn't expecting this brand to be as amazing as it has been. I think as soon as you hear 'natural' you think it won't be as effective as more science-based brands; but that theory is wrong. I test and try many brands that are sometimes natural and sometimes not but I do love this approach of using clean, holistic therapies and anti-ageing compounds to give a relaxing, holistic experience whilst taking care of your skin. Each aroma and texture has been well thought out so that they all work in sync together.
Price-wise it's not cheapest and sits in that mid to higher price range of luxury skincare but the product range/routine itself is very small within each dosha so you don't need a ton of products! This is ideal for those who like high end, but simple and effective skincare routines and maybe prefer to use all the same brand. I feel it deserves a lot more recognition and hope that it is one you will enjoy too after reading.
Bravo Samaya, you have a new fan right here.
