Sam Hunt made headlines Wednesday morning with the announcement of a new album and massive tour that will pack his 2020 schedule. The album will be titled, Southside and Hunt announced that it will be available for pre-order on Friday, February 7 - and will be released on Friday, April 3.
Then, in late-May Sam Hunt will hit the road on The Southside Summer Tour. The 41-date run will take him all over the United States, and bring him north to Toronto's Budweiser Stage on June 18. And like any exciting tour, this one has openers that should get fans revved up. Crowd pleaser will be joined by Travis Denning, Ernest, and a DJ set from Brandi Cyrus as the opening attractions, and that sounds like a full night of music for ticket holders every night.
Related: Kip Moore at Boots & Hearts 2019Southside's tracklist hasn't been released with the news (we expect it to be revealed on Friday when pre-order starts) but we do fully expect that Kinfolks and Sinning With You, and Nothing Lasts Forever will be included on the new album. And honestly, we're hoping for a lot more on the release because it's been a long time since Hunt released his last record Montevallo in October 2014.
The danger in those expectations is that they can't possibly be lived up to, and that's the case going into all sophomore records. BUT, I've been all-in on Sam Hunt since the Between The Pines mixtape and his first appearance at Boots & Hearts back in 2014, so I'm not about to be anything but excited about new music from the genre-bending country star.
I've seen Hunt live as an opener, as a festival act. I've listened to album and single and watched live videos of covers and medleys. I've enjoyed the songs that he's written that other artists have taken to the top of the charts. And I've been waiting for this announcement!
