Among the many, many aircraft of the immense Pima Air and Space Museum are some truly unique aircraft, like this Twin Navion.   In 1951, an effort began to produce a twin-engined version of the Ryan Navion for better mountain flying capability.   The conversions consisted of rebuilding the nose of the aircraft into a baggage compartment and placing two Lycoming engines on the wings. Temco purchased the sole production rights, and produced a further 46 conversions under the name Temco D-16.  Later modifications by TEMCO added more powerful engines and wing tip fuel tanks. Just over 100 Navions were converted between 1954 and 1957.  11 are currently registered in the U.S.  Nikon D500 w/18-200mm.
