RUBBLEBUCKET EMBRACES THEIR INNER PUNK WITH FUGAZI COVER [STREAM] Pause Rubblebucket- Waiting Room (Fugazi Cover) SoundCloud

Brooklyn-based favorite Rubblebucket recently kicked off a highly-anticipated U.S. spring tour. Just in time for their SXSW appearance, Rubblebucket released a new single — a danceworthy cover of Fugazi’s “Waiting Room”. A homage to the famously fan-loyal post-hardcore band, the song takes on an entirely new persona. Kalmia Travers’ relaxed vocals replace Ian MacKaye’s anthemic angst, and the song suddenly becomes less about oppression from The Man. Ian Hersey also teases a simple guitar hook out of the furious strumming and drumming characteristic of the original tune, crafting a catchy new appeal. Add some horns, drumbeats and electronic flourishes, and suddenly “Waiting Room” transforms from a post-hardcore, cymbal-crashing anthem into a head bop-inducing indie dance tune. We can’t stop dancing to this on repeat — can you?
