Employment Application
The Rogue River Fire District (RRFD) is currently building an eligibility list for Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic as well as testing for one anticipated vacancy. The eligibility list is open and continuous. As vacancies can occur at any time, the request for a list of candidates to consider may occur at any time without notice.
This position requires applicants to complete the FireTEAM test and the Candidate Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. Applicants shall also complete a RRFD application (available at rogueriverfd.com) and upload it, along with their current EMS license and firefighter certification or proof of fire academy completion, to their candidate documents.
Applications, FireTEAM testing and PHQ shall be complete by 12/23/2018 to be considered for the anticipated vacancy. Ten candidates will be selected, based on an evaluation of test scores and qualifications, and notified via email by 12/30/2018 of their invitation to participate in a physical ability test, oral interview and firefighter/EMS skills assessment center on 1/24-25/2019. The selection process will consist of the FireTEAM written exam (20%), oral interview (40%), assessment center evaluation (40%) and physical ability test (Pass/Fail). Each portion of the examination must be passed to be on the eligibility roster.
The anticipated vacancy may be filled by an EMT or Paramedic, depending on the needs of the fire district.
Salary Information:
Firefighter/EMT – $50,910.10 annually. EMT-I earns a 4% incentive. Paramedic earns an 8% incentive. AA/AS degree earns a 3% incentive. Additional length-of-service incentives are earned over time.
Benefit Information: Rogue River Fire District provides medical (including vision), dental, and life insurance programs. Employees currently pay 5% of the medical and dental premiums. A $225 VEBA contribution is provided monthly to each employee’s VEBA plan. Rogue River Fire District is a PERS retirement benefit participator paying both the employer and employee contributions to PERS.
Department Overview: Rogue River Fire District is a full service Fire and EMS provider and provides ambulance transportation to Jackson County ASA #1. Rogue River Fire District responds to approximately 2,000 emergency incidents per year from our station located in Rogue River and participates in the Rogue Valley Fire Chief’s automatic aid system. Rogue River Firefighters are known for our compassion and care to all who come in contact with us.
Area Overview: Rogue River Fire District is situated on the Rogue River between the Cities of Grants Pass and Medford in beautiful Southern Oregon. The district services a 77 square mile area for fire protection and 200 square miles for ambulance coverage serving a population of about 15,000.

Fitness Evaluation: Pass RRFD physical ability test and medical evaluation
Prior Experience: Current Oregon EMS license/certification (EMT or higher) or ability to obtain provisional Oregon licensure by date of hire. NFPA FF-I certification or documentation of completion of a fire academy that meets the training requirements for NFPA FF-I.
Specific Disqualifiers : Felony, Criminal, Activity Disqualifier: No Felonies, Must be able to be certified by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).
Driving Disqualifier: Must possess a current, valid driver license that is recognized by the state of Oregon and maintain a driving record insurable by the district’s insurance carrier.
Drug Use Disqualifier: Must pass drug testing. Zero tolerance for drug use per department policies. Marijuana is included as a disqualifying drug.
