Robots With Rayguns Recalls 80’s Nostalgia On ‘Memories’ [Stream]

Pheonix-based retro-electro savant Robots With Rayguns has finally returned, bearing the gift of a new single that actually holds a candle to his 2010 breakthrough “Sugarbaby.” His signature chopped up vocals and polyrhythm synth splashes are still accounted for, but there is a palpable maturity in his latest offering, “Memories”, which showcases some serious songwriting chops – complete with resplendent hook and sexy downtempo production. This is a new artistic direction for the young producer, who seems to be consciously lowering the BPM’s, even titling this latest cycle of songs Slow Jams.
