I really dig this picture. He’s somewhat apprehensive of the skunk draped over his shoulder, but he looks more disgusted with the camera in front of him.
Anyway, Robert Kirkman is the writer of the wildly successful comic book The Walking Dead, which spawned an even more popular TV show of the same title. He’s also the writer of Invincible for Image comics and as ridiculously awesome as that series has been, it’s almost impossible to adapt it as a television pilot. So he’s now working with Fox International Channels in order to develop an original exorcism show that’s attached to his new upcoming book from his Skybound imprint at Image. I feel like this highlights a grimy trend in comic books in which creators author new titles solely for the purpose of adapting them i.e. Frank Miller’s 300 prequel and Mark Millar in general.
Disregarding that though, they seemed to have realized how much money is in that market and is trying to bring exorcism to TV, similar to how they brought over the zombie genre to AMC in a series format for the very first time. I like the fact that they’re aiming to bring fresh material, and while I’m not an avid fan of the exorcism sub-genre by any stretch of the imagination, I’m more than willing to give it a try considering who is attached to the project.

Told through the Kirkman prism, the series follows a young man, Kyle Barnes, who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a spiritual journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it. Kirkman will serve as executive producer alongside The Walking Dead executive producer David Alpert of Circle of Confusion.
This yet-to-be-titled series doesn’t seem to have a destination as far as networks go, but if this does end up on AMC, I feel like it will strip The CW as the ultimate channel for cult shows. It appears that Robert Kirkman will have his handful now and I hope his comics don’t suffer from any work load back lash.
