Ripcord: Keith Urban at Boots & Hearts 2017

After weather threatened the headlining entertainment on Friday night at Boots & Hearts 2017, the lightning cleared and Keith Urban took over the main stage, and he killed it!

The guitar slinging Aussie didn't waste a minute in his set, revving up the energy with Long Hot Summer to start the show, and pushing forward through a series of hits, fan favourites, and guest appearances. And while the thunder and lightning did clear, the crowd, and Urban himself fought through two rain showers during the show... but it didn't slow anyone down.

He was soaked by the end of his Boots & Hearts debut, but it didn't matter and it didn't look like he cared. In the rain and in the clear, Keith Urban showed off his guitar chops, lead call and answer games, invited us all to sing along with him and for him, and entertained the hell out of the tens of thousands of country music fans that rushed back to the stage after their evacuation had been lifted.

"Rain ain't nothing but a thang" - Keith Urban, Boots & Hearts 2017

Keith Urban was the star of the show on Friday night, but credit should be given to (and was given by the star) to the fans who waited out an evacuation of more than an hour, and stood in the rain during his set - but still sang along as loud as they could, cheered at the top of their lungs, and loved the hell out of the man on stage.

As music fans ourselves, this show and this night were special. The energy level was as high as we've ever felt it, and the appreciation for the music when there was a feeling that it may not happen at all, was at an all time high.

Big love has to also go out to Keith Urban's band who pushed through the weather conditions - and to Dan + Shay and Brooke Eden who did great jobs in their guest spots on stage. There were no slips in the performance, sound, or talent in this show. It was tight, top notch, and everything that we could have hoped for... regardless of the weather.

Keith Urban was worth the wait, and the wetness. He was charming, emotional, energetic, and willing to do everything he could to entertain his fans. He gave away a guitar, put on a shirt and hat that were thrown to him from the crowd, and stood on stage in the rain to play, just like his fans stood in the rain to see him play.

If you love live music, if you love country music, if you love Keith Urban's music - go see a live show. Even if it's raining.
