If you’ve seen my recent Instagram picture here, then you would know that I am a mascara fiend. Mascara is just my ‘thing’ – I absolutely loving trying them out and I’m always on the hunt for ‘the one’. I’m definitely one that rarely splurges on expensive mascaras because there are so many fantastic ones that are affordable too.
One of Rimmel London’s latest mascara releases is the ScandalEyes XX-Treme Volume & Length Mascara, which features a dual action brush.
Curved side: Volumises and loads up lashes for xx-treme look.
Flat side: Defines and lengthens lashes from root to tip. No clumps.
The plastic brush features a completely straight side to deliver definition and length whilst the domed side produces volume. I love the concept of having 2 completely different brushes in the one as it allows you to customise your lash look to your preferences or to adapt from day to night. Both the sides of the brush really do produce the individual results they promise to and allow you to reach the base of the lashes as well as applying it to your lower lashes quite easily.
The formula of the mascara is lovely, neither too wet or too dry, ensuring easy application and the product can be built up for a more dramatic look. One coat of either side of the brush will provide a nice, soft day look, while two or more coats will really start building up the volume, all whilst ensuring your lashes stay clump free.
In terms of holding a curl, this mascara did an okay job, it didn’t maintain that curled look throughout the whole day but it did leaves the lashes looking nicely fanned out and lifted. My lower lashes are notorious for causing mascara to smudge or flake throughout the day but I was happy to see that only after a long day, did this mascara begin to breakdown on my lower lash line.
Overall, if you’re looking for an affordable mascara that is versatile in delivering volume and length, whilst being buildable and having good wear time, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Rimmel London ScandalEyes XX-Treme Volume & Length Mascara as a great choice for a daytime, everyday look mascara.
