Rights to Harvey Characters Change Hands Again

Posted on the 29 April 2016 by Hmcurator

It is official, Comcast has bought DreamWorks:

Comcast buys DreamWorks Animation in $3.8 billion deal

While most of the articles on the acquisition are focusing on DreamWorks characters Shrek and Kung-Fu Panda, this will also affect our beloved Harvey characters. DreamWorks had bought Classic Media back in 2012, and Classic Media owned the rights to the characters at the time:

DreamWorks buys rights to ‘He-Man,’ ‘Fat Albert,’ ‘Gumby,’ ‘Casper the Friendly Ghost’ and other Classic titles

Time will tell what lies in store for our Harvey friends. DreamWorks did not do much with the rights, except for the ill-fated live-action Richie Rich show on Netflix. Hopefully Comcast will do better!
