REWIND: Stretch and Vern Present MadDog - 'I'm Alive'

It's hard for me to believe that 1996 happened 20 years ago. Every day until the end of this year, RW/FF will be looking back two decades to remember all of the amazing music that was released that year. If you weren't around or were too young to remember the mid 90s, consider this a lesson of enlightenment. If you (like me) were lucky enough to experience it all first time around, then these posts make a fine nostalgic blast from the blast.

Today's we revisit a dancefloor banger that was a regular feature of my weekends back when I was a very young DJ, taking to the decks at a venue that my dad used to manage. In fact lots of the tracks that I used to play at Bentley's in Corsham can be heard on my online mixtape 'Bentleys Dance Classics', which can be streamed in full HERE. The hyperactive 'I'm Alive' heavily sampled Earth Wind And Fire's disco classic 'Boogie Wonderland', as well as elements of 'The Vision' by Prophecy. It was the work of DJs/producers Jules Vern and Stretch Silvester, who have both released music under various different aliases. Released on the FFRR label, 'I'm Alive' reached number 6 in the UK singles chart in September 1996.
