Revlon Color Stay Gel Envy in Get Lucky - Review

Sometime around last week I realized that I had got used to the entire “cook yourself – clean yourself mantra” of married life and found that I had enough time for some much needed retail therapy. I picked couple of nail polishes from Maybelline and Revlon and a lipstick from L’Oreal.
Both the brand’s nail polishes came with a “gel” tag attached to them. I have now understood that no “gel” polish can impart the glossiness and finishing of a professionally done gel coat. So, nowadays all I expect from drug store nail polishes with “gel” tag is some creaminess and longevity. I tried the Maybelline polishes and honestly, I am not a fan. Disappointed over the effect of the new launch, I had forgotten all about the Revlon ones I picked. Finally I decided to give it a try and ended up loving it!
The nail polish is from Revlon’s Color Stay Gel Envy Range and the color I picked is Get Lucky!

Get Lucky is a gorgeous orange red crème polish. It is neither too thick like the Lakme Absolut Gel polishes nor too thin and runny like the Maybelline ones. The formula is smooth and workable (But i am not sure if it would be suitable for stamping). I required three coats to get the intensity I liked. However, the application did not look bulky even with the three coats. The polish applies seamlessly and the rich glossy color stays put for more than a week.

I tried it on without top coat on my right hand and with top coat on my left. The top coat does add life to the polish. I noticed chipping/fading near the tips of the fingers in my right hand whereas after a week, all I noticed in my left hand fingers were mild fading in the tip. I found this impressive because, I cook, clean a couple of vessels and do some hard core house hold jobs on a daily basis. Normally polishes would start chipping right from day three from my hands.

The polishes are claimed to be free from DBP Free.

Priced at Rs. 425/- for 11.7 ml quantity, the pigmentation was slightly disappointing.  With two coats I could still see the faint nail line through the polish. And besides that, nowadays we are able to buy brands like OPI, China Glaze etc from online portals for Rs. 500-600 per bottle. So considering that, I find this to be slightly over priced. The only advantage with this is, I enjoy the luxury of trying the shade on before I buy unlike the brands mentioned.
That said, I have already purchased a hot pink shade called “Pocket Aces” from this range and look forward to try out more subtle shades as well.
Recommended if you are looking for some fresh looking, long staying nail polish and don’t mind spending around Rs. 500/- for one.
