it's almost
time for war.
Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.

Many sequels are known for falling into the "sequel trap" as some bloggers call it. This is where the sequel is just slow and boring and not a great addition to the rest of the series. Thankfully, Unravel Me didn't fall into that category. This riveting story will capture you with it's ever-changing characters, quick-paced plot, and flurry of romantic interests.

Unravel Me picks up soon after Shatter Me ends, which means there hasn't been much going on between the two books. The beginning picks up right away with Juliette's poetic thinking and depressing thoughts. After reading Shatter Me, this is just a typical thing for Juliette to do. She's the type of character that thinks everything is going wrong for her. I like that it's all mental though, and she's not complaining about it to everyone. She continues to keep to herself besides for Adam and Kenji.
Adam's character kind of annoyed me in this book. I felt he was all over the place. I'm not saying that as a fault of Tahereh Mafi, but rather as Adam as a character. It was done on purpose. In the first book, Adam seemed to be stable and something solid for Juliette to rest on. In the sequel, it changes and Adam is afraid and all over the place. Because of this, I felt it was easier to connect with Warner. But I still felt for Adam. He constantly broke my heart and it made me love him even more. I really enjoy reading about Juliette and Adam together, and it's just difficult. UGH.
Ah yes, the wonderful Warner. I didn't really have as many pulling thoughts for Warner in the first book, but in this second book. DANG. My heart goes to Warner. I like that he wasn't stable either, and he was all over the place as well. Unlike Adam, Warner wasn't all over the place because he was afraid; he was all over the place because of his feelings towards Juliette. I mean, this isn't really a spoiler, but Warner has feelings for Juliette and it's clear at the end of Shatter Me. These feelings just develop, and rather than it just being a one-way street of Warner wanting Juliette, it becomes a two-way street where Juliette starts to lust after Warner. I really liked that Warner was a continuing mystery, and chapter after chapter we learned something about Warner and who he is as a person. I fell for Warner just like Juliette. And chapter sixty-two... OH MY LORD. (I really need to get Destroy Me as well.)
Then there was Kenji. No, he wasn't a romantic interest but rather a really good friend. Yes, I'm totally Team Kenji, but NOT ROMANTICALLY. He just had wonderful one liners and he was so crucial to the whole story. I feel that if Kenji wasn't in the story, it wouldn't have been the same. I like how he becomes a mediator between Juliette and Adam. He isn't afraid to tell them "Hey, your relationship is turning into shit. Do something about it." That's what I appreciate about Kenji - he's blunt and isn't afraid to voice what Juliette is thinking in her head. He kind of broke up all the depressing thoughts in Juliette's head and gave some comic relief to some scenes.
These characters could have been in a realistic setting and the book would have been good. Since they're thrown in this crazy world, it just makes the book FANTASTIC. The plot was simply amazing. Tahereh Mafi knows how to make you sit on the edge of your seat in anticipation of what's going to happen, to making you want to crawl back into your seat and just cry. There were so many secrets and new revelations... I'm still having trouble pondering how on earth Tahereh thought to do all the things she did in this sequel. She's simply a stunning human being. And Unravel Me is a stunning addition to the series as well.
